H-4 visa

H-4 visa is a nonimmigrant visa category in the United States that allows the dependents of certain H visa holders to accompany them and reside in the country. The H-4 visa is available to the immediate family members, including spouses and unmarried children under the age of 21, of the H visa holders.

The H-4 visa allows dependents to live in the United States for the duration of the primary visa holder’s authorized stay. It’s important to note that H-4 visa holders do not have employment authorization by default. However, in 2015, the U.S. government introduced a rule that allows certain H-4 visa holders whose H-1B spouses are in the process of obtaining employment-based green cards to apply for employment authorization themselves.
